Artist Statement
Ruby is a freelance illustrator and designer from Elk Grove, California. She is currently studying in the Children’s Book Illustration Program at UC San Diego and is working toward writing and illustrating her first children’s book and graphic novel at her Studio Kura residency in Fukuoka, Japan. Ruby’s most current works are primarily inspired by Asian culture, Pop Surrealism, street fashion, nature and daily life. Her works have been exhibited throughout California in Sacramento, Oakland and San Diego.
